A member of Venture 17, David is also Managing Principal at Navitas Asset Management, and underpinned by 15+ years of experience in private equity, capital markets, corporate planning, strategy and engineering. David is highly reputable in bridging both technical and commercial aspects of the energy business to deliver strong investment returns by providing alternative capital to the lower-mid market segment of the upstream oil and gas sector. Throughout his career, David has built and fostered strong relationships throughout the energy sector, including banking clients, buy-side investors, corporate executives and multidiscipline teams from sales to trading, marketing, business development, operations and beyond. This network facilitates deal flow and sourcing of investment opportunities.

David has both Canadian and international experience, beginning his career as an Operations Engineer at Talisman Energy, a large independent upstream oil and gas company, covering the areas of Central Alberta and the Alberta Foothills. Thereafter, he was an Exploitation Engineer responsible for Southeast Saskatchewan Bakken, before transitioning to North America Corporate Planning and Strategy, also at Talisman Energy. His capital markets experience includes Equity Research at Credit Suisse, a global investment bank, where he led and helped grow the energy research platform to include both Canadian and international assets in South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australasia. Most recently, before Navitas, he led the corporate finance function at Fractal Energy, a start-up company that was backed by private equity firm ARC Financial.

David graduated with a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, with distinction. He is a professional engineer registered with APEGA and is also a CFA Charterholder.
